Classic revamped
With the original AOE nearing its 20 year anniversary, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition has been developed to celebrate all that made the classic game such a fan favourite with a whole host of upgrades. The game features all new art assets, improved soundtrack, better unit tracking and a modern multiplayer battles alongside all of the original content and expansions. Best of all these upgrades is the general responsiveness of units which now move in a less restricted manner, removing some of the frustrations that plagued the original release. The multiplayer mode is much more fitting for a modern release, making for speedy battles and quick connections. While the game does not feature any new single player content, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a fantastic choice for those with fond memories of the classic RTS.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition improves in nearly every aspect over the original release. Despite the possibility that some fans may be disappointed over the lack of new campaigns or civilisations, the revitalised multiplayer more than compensates.
